Antique Rope Chain Bracelet
An antique chain and heart padlock have been brought together to create a much-loved bracelet, adapted and repaired over time.
Era: Vintage bracelet made from a late Victorian chain and a later heart-shaped lock, 20th century.
Metal: Tests as 9ct gold with a higher carat plating of 18ct-22ct
Size: 7 inches (18cm)
Hallmarks: Heart clasp stamped ‘R∙P’ (sponsor’s mark) and ‘9CT’ (for 9ct gold). No official marks present, please see our Hallmarks page for further information.
Evidence of wear, some of the links are slightly mishapen and the higher carat plating has been worn away in a very small area. This bracelet appears to be formed of more than one piece of jewellery of differing ages and tones, all of which had later been given the high carat plating, including a jump ring used to reconnect the chain. Wear is commensurate with the age and construction of the piece. Please see the photos for details.
